Cathy Nolan, wife of Denis Nolan, founder of Mary TV, gives her personal testimony on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012, at the National Conference on Medjugorje at the University of Notre Dame. Since January, 1999, Cathy has been writing a daily reflection on Our Lady's messages (that is 4,000 reflections to date, sent out to a small email list or accessed at www.marytv.tv). Fr. Bertrand Buby, President of the Mariological Society of America insisted that upon receiving her graduate degree in Theology she become a professional member, writing, "She has the unique gift of the combination of a scholars intellect and a mother's heart."

On the Hill of Apparition, a woman on the way of holiness!

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! Today I am calling you to the way of holiness. Pray that you may comprehend the beauty and the greatness of this way where God reveals himself to you in a special way. Pray that you may be open to everything that God does through you that in your life you may be enabled to give thanks to God and to rejoice over everything that He does through each individual. I give you my blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call." (January 25, 1989)
At the end of our on line Rosary yesterday, Denis asked me to pray and pull a message out of our box of messages as a "word" for our on line prayer group. We always pray one Hail Mary at the end of our time of prayer, while holding the Crucifix, for the intentions of all those praying with us. The message above is the one I pulled. It is a very beautiful message!
In this message, Our Lady calls us to the way of holiness. She says that the way of holiness is a beautiful way. When we read the lives of the saints, we see the way of holiness. But often, when I read, I don't notice the beauty of their way, but only the suffering, the humiliation, the sorrow and pain of their way. It doesn't look very beautiful at first sight.
She also tells us that the way of holiness is a great way. It is indeed the way to heaven and that makes it great. But the greatness doesn't always appear during a saint's life time. Often the saint dies in humiliation and failure, at least in human terms. The greatness appears later, when miracles begin to occur or the fruits of their lives blossom. It may be hard to recognize the greatness of such a way.
But Our Lady tells us that the way of holiness is the way "where God reveals himself to you in a special way." This, in fact, may be the key to understanding the beauty and greatness of the way. For each of us on our way, in our individual lives and with our own set of challenges and talents and blessings and difficulties will discover God in those circumstances and challenges, as He is and as He gives Himself to us individually. If we pray, God will reveal Himself to us, personally and individually. He wants to walk with us on our unique and individual way of holiness. He wants to turn all those circumstances into opportunities for grace through His presence with us!
The way of holiness requires that we are open to all that God wants to do in us and through us. We can't say "no" to God and think that we are on the way. Only our "yes" can put us on the road with God. Once we say "yes" we will begin to see what God is doing in us and through us, and we will begin to also see the beauty and greatness of it. It may not be evident to anyone else, but we will see it, very clearly. We will see the good, the blessing, and the love that God is injecting into the world, through us.
And, amazingly, as we begin to see what God is doing through each of us, we begin to recognize what he is doing in others, as well. We begin to see with different eyes, the eyes of faith, which tell us that God is at work in individuals. In fact that is the only way He works, in one person at a time. Our personal relationship with the Lord is the bedrock upon which our future depends. Each person, on bedrock, makes for a more solid world.
I could feel Our Lady's love for each of the people we were praying for in our group. She wanted us each to know, as individuals, that she was aware of us and calling us. At the end of the message she said: "I give you my blessing." It felt like she had joined our prayer. She came to bless us as we had asked.
I pray that I can respond to this message and truly believe that God is calling me to the way of holiness in which He will reveal Himself to me in a special way as I say "yes." I pray that we will all respond with our "yes" to God and truly experience Him as our personal friend and redeemer.
